Description

Crumpets are soft, spongy British griddle cakes with signature holes that soak up butter and jam perfectly. This classic recipe produces fluffy, golden crumpets ideal for breakfast or teatime.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 1/4 cups warm milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  4. Dissolve baking soda in 2 tablespoons warm water and stir into batter.
  5. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and grease lightly.
  6. Place crumpet rings on skillet and pour batter inside to about 1/2 inch thickness.
  7. Cook 5-7 minutes until bubbles form and edges set.
  8. Remove rings, flip crumpets, and cook 1-2 minutes until golden.
  9. Serve warm with butter and jam.
